Good afternoon, Academy Families,
During February, we look to celebrate the accomplishments, contributions, and lives of influential African American men and women from our past and present.
At the Academy, we will be doing display cases and some wall coverings along with lessons during certain classes to pay tribute.
Each MONDAY, I will post a person whom the students may or may not know: Tuesday mornings, I will speak about that person. Tomorrow will be Robert Johnson.
Robert Johnson - 79 years old
He is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, investor, and finaceer who is the Co-Founder of BET. He sold the business to the media conglomerate Viacom for $3 billion. This reportedly made him Americas first African American billionaire. He stayed with the company until 2005 when he retired.
